Danny Corona, better known by Deacon fans as "DC," captivated all of our attentions throughout the season and especially during the playoffs. Corona, a sophomore from Brooklyn, played in 55 games as a freshman in 2022, hitting .267 with 5 home runs and 39 RBI.

Coming into the 2023 campaign, Wake Forest was looking for a breakout year of some sort out of Corona. Despite playing in less games than the year before (47), Corona tapped into his power potential, launching 13 balls out of the park. His year to year slugging percentage increased by a whopping 209 points. And while the fielding wasn't spectacular, he provided the team with an above average arm and a glove that could at times be very effective. Towards the end of the season, he was the DH in some postseason games.

Corona became a true fan favorite during the postseason, where he went on an absolute tear. Coming into the postseason, Corona had seven home runs all year. He launched a grand slam in the late night game two versus Maryland in the Winston-Salem Regional and drove in six total that game. He followed up that performance with two home runs in the regional clincher versus George Mason. In the first game versus Alabama, he hit a controversial home run that ended up propelling the Deacs to victory. In a two strike count, Corona went around on a check swing, but the umpire disagreed and said he didn't go. He hit the all important home run on the next pitch. In the game two blowout, Corona hit two of Wake Forest's nine home runs, both being three run shots. In the first game of the CWS versus Stanford, Corona lit the stadium on fire as he drove in the tying and go-ahead runs in the eighth. He was also the go-ahead run in the first game versus LSU.

Corona was named to the Winston-Salem Regional All Tournament Team. Corona was drafted in the 16th round (463 overall) of the 2021 MLB Draft by the Pittsburgh Pirates. He won three state championships in high school.

Corona transferred to the University of Missouri following the 2023 season.
