Rounding out the 16-20 section is outfielder Adam Cecere. Cecere was a cherished Deac on and off the field this year. He brought energy, spirit, and a lot of pop to the lineup. Through the first 22 games of the season, Cecere boasted a .356 batting average paired with a stunning .505 on-base percentage. He proved to be one of the premiere power hitters in college baseball during this stretch, launching nine big flies and driving in 30 runs while scoring 29 runs. On May 21st, Cecere suffered a hamstring injury that kept him off the field for a month.

Unfortunately for both Cecere and the Deacs, he struggled to regain the early rhythm he had. He returned to the lineup on April 19th against Liberty and appeared in 15 games the rest of the regular season. In these games, he hit .157 with a .313 on-base percentage with no home runs, four runs batted in, and nine runs scored. It's no secret that his hamstring injury greatly affected his play, especially considering it occurred at a time when ACC play was ramping up. Nevertheless, Cecere had a successful postseason, slashing .353 with a .529 OBP in five games. He collected a season high three hits, including a home run, in the regional opener versus George Mason.

The reasoning for placing him at 16 was that I believed his performance on the field was slightly better than Marek's, especially when you consider how great of a player Cecere was for the team in the first 22 games.

Cecere was the ACC player of the week for the week of Febuary 27th. He was on the 2023 All-ACC Academic Team and is an ACC Postgraduate Scholarship Recipient. In 2022, he was a team captain and an All-ACC Academic Team selection.

Cecere announced on June 25th via his Instagram that he was entering the transfer portal. He later announced his commitment to Penn State. Cecere is a Pennsylvania native. I have a feeling he'll find that sweet swing he had at the beginning of the year and tear up the Big Ten.
