Shortstop Marek Houston:

Coming in at number 17 on the list is freshman shortstop Marek Houston. Houston started 58 games for the Deacs and appeared in 65 games, a team record for a freshman. He slashed .215/.325/.304 with 4 home runs and 29 RBI. He is one of the best defending shortstops in the ACC, and maybe the NCAA. He provided the Deacs with stability in the field, and provided some spark at the plate throughout the season, thus why I placed him at #17. He launched a 2 run home run against Miami on March 24th for his first collegiate home run. He also had a huge go-ahead home run against Virginia Tech in the final series of the season, which led to a Wake Forest victory and the clinching of an undefeated season in ACC series for the team. In Wake's route of Alabama in game two of the super regionals, Houston hit a grand slam.
