Pitcher Derek Crum:

Coming in at number 19 on the list is one of the high-end depth pitchers Wake Forest had in the pen in redshirt junior Derek Crum. Crum appeared in 19 games for the Deacs, posting an impressive 3.38 ERA in 15 innings coupled with a win and 14 strikeouts versus four walks. Opponents hit .262 off him and he didn't surrender a home run. He pitched a season high 2.2 innings against Virginia Tech back on May 20th. His most important outing came against Notre Dame in the ACC Tournament, where he pitched 1.2 innings without surrendering a run and picking three strikeouts. He also earned the victory in that game.
Derek Crum started his career at Wake Forest University in 2019. He started out as an outfielder for the first two years of his career, hitting .222 with one home run, four RBI, and two stolen bases in 54 at bats. Crum made his move to the mound following the 2020 season, and struggled, posting an ERA near seven, allowing 16 runs and five long balls. As detailed earlier, his 2023 season was by far the best of his career, and he proved to be a valuable depth asset for the team. Crum entered the transfer portal following the 2023 season.
